Moving from another program? You don't have to type your customers in again. Export them there as a spreadsheet (CSV file) and import it into PartsDue.
Get the file from your old program
Most programs have an export button on their customer list. Look for Export, Download or CSV.
- Housecall Pro: Customers, then the export button above the list.
- Jobber: Clients, then More actions and Export clients.
- Workiz: Clients, then the export button.
- A spreadsheet you keep yourself: in Excel or Google Sheets, choose File, Save as or Download, and pick CSV.
Import the file
- Open Customers and click Import customers.
- Click Choose CSV file and pick the file.
- PartsDue guesses which column is which: name (or first and last name), phone, email, street address, city, ZIP code and notes. Check the guesses and change any that are wrong. Columns you don't need, like state or tags you don't use, can stay Not in my file.
- Look at the first customers in the preview. They show exactly how each customer will be saved.
- Click Import. A list of a few thousand customers takes under a minute.
When it finishes you see how many customers were added, how many were already here and how many rows were skipped.
Nobody is added twice
PartsDue uses the same rule as the booking form: the same email, or the same phone number with a matching name, means the same person. If a customer is already in PartsDue, their missing details (like an email you didn't have) are filled in and nothing is duplicated. You can safely import the same file again.
Rows with no name, phone or email are skipped.
What is not imported
Only customers are imported. Old jobs, invoices and payments stay in your old program. Keep a copy of its full export for your records. New jobs for imported customers build their history in PartsDue from now on.
Only office staff and administrators can import customers. Technicians can't.
